Erik Thun AB was founded in 1938 by Helge Källsson after the decease of the former owner of the business - Erik Thun. The shipping activity probably started as far back as in 1853 when the port of Lidköping was built.
The main activity has always been shipping but during the years other activities have been included such as road carriers, shipyard, oil business, a saw mill, building material merchants, passenger traffic on the Göta Canal etc.
During 1980 Erik Thun AB concentrated on its core activity - shipping. The estate business was established in the 90's with the shopping center Framnäs City in Lidköping. In 1993 the airline Golden Air, and in 2003 the meat processing company Direkt Chark AB, were added to the business.
Helge Källsson was managing director 1938 - 1987 and was succeed by his eldest son Jan, who in his turn succeed by his brother Anders in 2004. The ambition is that Erik Thun AB will remain a family business also in the future.
